Admissions Procedure
The admissions process at NVLA is an informative one that allows the Admissions Committee to become familiar with the student, and the student and family to learn more about the school as well.

Our goal is to admit students who can benefit from NVLA’s academic and social environment. NVLA prides itself on enrolling students of all faiths, races, creeds, colors, national origins and socioeconomic background who each contribute a variety of talents, experiences and goals to the New Village Leadership Academy. Both the applicant and NVLA community, as a whole, are considered in making admissions decisions.

The parent(s) are welcome to meet with Franca "Piano" Foster, Head of School, to discuss the school in greater detail and to have all questions answered regarding the admissions process and the school. Please call the front office at 818.716.4196 to schedule your tour.

Application for Admission
If there is interest after the tour, parents can request an Admissions packet to learn more about our school and admissions process. This packet is to be totally completed prior to the next step.

Admissions Testing
Once the Admissions Application is filled out, sent in and processed, the family will be contacted and the student will be invited to take the Admission Assessment. NVLA requires all prospective students to take a reading and math assessment.

Student Visit
Once the Admissions Testing has been scored, if the student meets the Administration Testing Criterion, the school will contact the family to set up a student visit. The academic portion of the student visit begins at 8:45a.m. on the scheduled date and continues until 4:00 p.m. The student participates with other NVLA students during the day allowing him/her to get a feel for our environment, meet students, and make a decision about how well he/she fits into our environment.

This is also a time for the parent(s) to see their child’s ability to acclimate to a new environment and make a more informed decision about whether their child will thrive at NVLA. Parents are permitted to observe the student in the classroom until 10:30 a.m., then leave in order to allow the student to fully participate in the school with the freedom of not being observed.

For our 3 & 4 year-old class, parents are welcome to remain with the student in class; the amount of time of student participation is flexible.

Notification
Admission to the New Village Leadership Academy is based upon assessment of the child in regard to developmental readiness and academic ability, previous school records and recommendations, NVLA teacher evaluations and testing administered at our school and space availablilty. All applicants will be contacted via phone call. We have a rolling admissions policy, which means that applications are accepted at any time.

Non-Discrimination Policy
The School encourages and invites all students without regard to sex, race, color, religion, physical ability, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities made available to the student body.

We value a diverse student enrollment and a curriculum that instills appreciation for all cultures, including one's own. It is our highest expectation that our students both respect individual and cultural differences and has a commitment towards enhancing our common humanity, as to prepare them to assume their responsibility to themselves, their families, communities, countries, and as citizens of the world.
